Boston Nightlife: The Museum of Fine Arts

I can't say that this is actually night life, but I can't so much think of any other way to categorize this sort of article. So this is more "daylife." But it's still cool, trust me.

So a few days ago my friend Sarah, a "member" of the Museum of Fine Arts, decided to treat me to a day of culture. Now, I know you guys are thinking that I'm just a booze-swilling, chain-smoking, drug-abusing lunatic, but I do have an appreciation of art and jump at the chance to do things like this, i.e., go to an excellent art museum for free. And, because I believe shit like this should be passed on, I'm going to take this time to push my opinions onto you, my faithful readers. Hang on.

Go to the MFA. I'm going to say it again, but more forcefully. If you live in Boston, get your fucking ass to the Museum of Fine Arts. I've been living here for a year now, and this was my first time. I have to say that I honestly wish I had gone sooner. There is so much awesome art contained in this building, it is un-fucking-real. There's a whole big room pretty much full of Van Goghs, Monets and Renoirs. There are Rembrandts, there's a Boticelli. There're Sargents.

Fuck it. There's everything. You cannot hope to see it all in one day. You couldn't hope to see it all in two days. Fuck, you could go there every day for a damn week and probably not see and fully appreciate everything on display.

And the variety. If you like Modern Art, it's there. Impressionism, early Colonial American art, just an assload of European stylings. There's almost an entire chapel reconstucted on the second floor, and it is beautiful. The Egyption section will blow your mind, especially if you try to take it in with the art of Ancient Greece, Rome and China, like we did.

Fucking hell. I don't even know what else to say. If you like art, the MFA is not going to disappoint. In a few weeks, I'm going to the Met in NYC, and while I'm sure it will compare, I'm not sure it can surpass my MFA experience. I'll let you know.

Oh, in case you're curious, you take the "E" train on the Green Line to the Museum of Fine Arts to get there via public transportation. If you're driving, the street address is:
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Avenue of the Arts
465 Huntington Avenue
Boston, Massachusetts 02115

That's it. I'm out, bitches. Get some culture, other than the yeast in your beer.
